27 NOVEMEBER 2007 | SERIES 4 | OFFICIAL: ROSE TYLER returns
Billie Piper is busy working girl nowadays, and the BBC has confirmed that she will reprise the role of Rose Tyler in SERIES 4.
In the immortal words of the Tenth Doctor: "What?"
She will join, according to the report on BBC NEWS online, in the final three episodes of SERIES 4 alongside Catherine Tate, Freema Agyeman and John Barrowman. Crowded!
In the immortal words of the Tenth Doctor: "What?"
If she was to return then she would be better used in the 2009 three "Specials" series, linking to the new Eleventh Doctor for 2010.

23 NOVEMEBER 2007 | CLASSIC SERIES | VERITY LAMBERT OBE
To be frank we don't normally report deaths relating to DOCTOR WHO but in this instance...
Verity Lambert OBE, the first Producer of DOCTOR WHO (1963-1965) has died at the age 71, on Thursday 22 November.
Too young to die but her legacy will endure for decades if not centuries to come. Not only a driving creative force for DOCTOR WHO's success in the sixties & today but within the television industry as a whole (including the ground-breaking, THE NAKED CIVIL SERVANT).
eyeofhorus.org.uk would hope that BBC WALES add a "Dedicated to Verity Lambert OBE" caption to either the start of the end of the forthcoming VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED. And the caption is not "squeezed" by the current horrendous BBC ONE continuity announcements.

14 NOVEMEBER 2007 | NON-WHO | ROUND THE HORNE
With thanks to BBC AUDIOBOOKS.
Yes, it's nothing to do with DOCTOR WHO but the eyeofhorus.org.uk Editorial Team are currently thoroughly enjoying the 1967 BBC Radio comedy sketch-show, ROUND THE HORNE.
If you liked Tom Baker's DVD witty commentary for THE HAND OF FEAR or John Simm's (Russell T Davies superbly scripted) "over the top" humorous performance as the Master, then we recommend the classic ROUND THE HORNE.
Since being published by BBC AUDIOBOOKS, to date, over 850,000 cassettes and CDs have been sold worldwide.
The third volume of "The very best episodes..." was released on 5 November, and is available from all good record & book shops. RRP £12.99. 2xCDs.

7 NOVEMEBER 2007 | Series 4 | New version of THEME MUSIC from Gold
Murray Gold has re-worked for the third time (including the "tweaking" for SERIES 2) the iconic Delia Derbyshire realised DOCTOR WHO theme music.
But you don't need reminding... however, DOCTOR WHO SERIES 3 soundtrack is in all good record shops and online retailers now.
Editor's comment: Amongst the generalised insignificant (the catchy hooks of SERIES 1 and to a lesser extent SERIES 2 have been lost in too much orchestration - with both a lowercase and uppercase "O") "noise", there are a few gems that truly stand proud.
And the track from the forthcoming Christmas Day special? A homage to the late Kirsty MacColl (who released an album titled, TITANIC DAYS) and the Pogues' epic, THE FAIRYTALE OF NEW YORK track.
See the *asterisk ratings in the track listing below.
Following last year's release that was the ultimate iPod soundtrack for all WHO fans, SILVA SCREEN MUSIC is releasing DOCTOR WHO SERIES 3 soundtrack by Murray Gold (conducted by Ben Foster).
It includes the "song" from the forthcoming 2007 Christmas Day drama special, VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED.
The single CD was released on 5 November 2007.

5 NOVEMBER 2007 | MERCHANDISE | DOUGLAS ADAMS audiobook
No strictly DOCTOR WHO but DOCTOR WHO related.
The legendary Douglas Adams' (former CLASSIC SERIES Script Editor and Writer) DIRK GENTLY'S HOLISTIC DECTIVE AGENCY novel has been re-worked as a BBC AUDIOBOOK (recently aired on BBC RADIO 4).
The plot/audiobook contains a number of DOCTOR WHO links & themes that will either surprise or irk CLASSIC SERIES fans. Links to SHADA (Professor Chronotis appears, continuing with his 'Milk? One lump or two?' comic gag) and CITY OF DEATH (the paradox of time travel).
A thoroughly entertaining diversion of nearly four hours of sideways logic, whimsical humour and a mechanical murdering monk on a horse (only Adams could draw together an iconic piece of work like this...), starring a remarkable performance from Harry Enfield as Dirk Gently, and THE LORD OF THE RINGS star, Billy Boyd.
The four-disc CD set (RRP: £15.99) is released on 8 November 2007 by BBC AUDIOBOOKS.

4 NOVEMBER 2007 | SERIES 4 | The Sontarans revealed
Actor, Dan Starkey has been revealed as the first of the cloned-army, Commander Storr of the Sontaran army.
The squat, powerful alien will feature in Helen Raynor's two-parter that sees Freema Agyeman as Dr. Martha Jones return to the the series, alongside David Tennant and Catherine Tate.
Prosthetics Design, Neill Gorton has discussed the re-modelling of the Sontarans to SFX ONLINE MAGAZINE, and why fans are wrong to compare them to the Judoon.
"The Judoon looked nothing like a Sontaran. Put a picture of a classic Sontaran alongside a Judoon and tell me why they are supposed to be so alike? They have a helmet that looks domed from one angle is about it. In that case you may as well say it looks like a Dalek too! It's hysterical that this Judoon/Sontaran similarity keeps raising its head."
"When we designed the Judoon at no time did anyone talk about, or suggest a similarity with, the Sontarans - or for that matter deliberately wind up the fans by making them similar in any way as some have suggested - that's ridiculous and we have better things to do. Similarly when we designed the new Sontarans we didn't make any reference to designing them in a way to be different from the Judoon, because they were nothing like them in the first place. I was more concerned about it looking like Batman than I was about it looking like a Judoon."
"Inspiration was simply to update the look in general. They're supposed to be soldiers so it's only sensible to put them in some sort of armour as opposed to the silver quilted outfits of old."
